About the ASMD
The American Society of Medical Doctors (ASMD) was established in 2009 by physicians who felt that the bond between doctors and patients has been corrupted by government, insurers, lawyers, pharmaceutical companies and other middlemen.
These founders, led by Al Bonati, MD of the Bonati Institute, decided that physicians needed to come together to take back the doctor-patient relationship from these outside forces and re-establish the free market principle of high-quality medical care at reasonable costs.
They agreed to form an advocacy organization, the ASMD, to empower doctors to speak for themselves and provide them with the tools to be successful. The ASMD is working in all 50 states to help medical doctors personally address issues related to health care reform proposals, tort reform, and reimbursement issues.
The Mission of the ASMD
The ASMD was founded to work towards an American health care system in which the relationship between physicians and their patients is free from interference by government, the insurance industry, lawyers, or other outside influences; to protect American health care from proposals or legislation that endanger patients’ freedom to choose their doctors; and to ensure the American health care system is based on free market principles that allow patients and their doctors to achieve the highest quality care and reasonable costs.
